BRAVEN BRV-XXL LargePortable Wireless Waterproof Speaker Built-In 15,600mAh Power-Bank
I have told earlier into a review that, ‘we have a family electronics business in our town’. One of our permanent customers requested us to arrange the loudest portable-speaker for him because he is planned to go rural area along with a troop for ‘full moon show camping’ on the river in first week of December 2018. In fact, it is also my interest to find out the loudest portable wireless speaker. Finally, I choose BRAVEN BRV-XXL for my customers. Before delivery, I have tested the speaker, it is really louder portable speaker near to ‘Aiwa Exos-9’. But, due to built-in handle and shoulder strap, it is easy portability than ‘Aiwa Exos-9’.
To be very frank, BRAVEN is a new brand for me. When I introduce a new brand, first I see the Company profile. In my personal business experience, a manufacturing Company is most important for electronic products. The Braven LC is a mobile device accessories company, they designs, manufactures and sells portable Bluetooth speakers for mobile consumers across the world. The company manufactures portable HD speakers/speakerphones, including rugged wireless speakers for sport, travel, around the house, and outdoor experiences. Their products are also used to charge several mobile devices, including cameras, smartphones, and tablets. The company was founded in 2011 and is based in Utah, USA.
Design: The BRAVEN BRV-XXL is measuring20.25 x 18.25 x 9.5 in (51.4 x 46.3 x 24.1 cm) and 18 lb (8.2 kg) weight, but its built-in handle offers an easy carrying option, so long as you’re prepared to heft this bulky weighted speaker. A shoulder strap is included for convenient hands-free carrying. Much of the speaker’s weight can be attributed to the solid construction, four HD drivers (two on either side), down-firing subwoofer, and large size 15,600 mAh internal battery.
The BRAVENBRV-XXL is certified IPX5 rated which means it is splash-proof, dustproof & sand proof making it an ideal companion for an outdoor party such as pool parties and beach parties, or wherever splashes or spills might befall. It is also a necessity for big tailgates, camping, and home entertaining alike. There are buttons are embedded in firm silicone on one end of the speaker, while the opposite side houses all the ports under a thick, secure flap.
Thick silicone feet keep the bottom of the speaker raised up while a bit of damping when the tunes are totally cranked up. The BRAVEN BRV-XXL is a thoughtful addition that works equally well for smartphones or tablets, in either landscape or portrait orientation. The onboard controls are simple, offering levels of adjustment for volume, bass, and treble. The power button sequences between the three, as a series of eight back-lit LEDs, glow blue to represent the current settings. There are no track controls on the BRAVEN BRV-XXL, so command over music needs to be done by devices through Bluetooth connection or the 3.5 mm auxiliary jack. A microphone input transforms the speaker into a portable PA system, while a USB port charges devices at a standard 5 V / 1 A rate. The BRAVEN BRV-XXL has lacked that, there is no speakerphone functionality for fielding hands-free phone calls, but you can boost your voice with the 3.5 microphone input to ensure that your voice is heard.
The BRAVENBRV-XXL features Bluetooth 2.1 and enhanced data rate that offers the standard33 ft (10 m) wireless range with advanced Bluetooth technology allows for clear crisp sound anywhere you go. Even it can connect wired through the 3.5mm stereo input AUX port. From our indoor tests, the speaker was actually able to maintain a steady connection up to about 31 ft before starting to be wavering.
On a fully-charged battery, the BRV-XXL is able to play for up to 14 hours before requiring to be plugged in again. With the volume set to max on the speaker and70 percent on a connected device –we managed to enjoy almost 13.5 hours playtime of music. The BRV-XXL has an imprecise 4-LED indicator system for battery life. The speaker is designed for automatically shuts off after 10 minutes of inactivity.
Included with the BRAVEN BRV-XXL, the carrying strap (which features a built-in
Durability: With its hard, black casing with silver grills on the front and back make it strong. The rugged design BRV-XXL is shockproof, no matter if it dropped from 3 feet high on the floor. Inside its hardware is strongly screwed up. With an IPX5 rating, it can handle being sprayed with jets of water, a rainstorm is also no problem, and it is Dirtproof, Sand proof too which increases its durability.
Controls and Features: There is the power button along with a play/pause button and volume controls on the right side of the BRV-XXL. You can adjust the bass and treble levels with these buttons. As a larger speaker, the bass opens up at higher volumes, so you may increase the low end when listening at a lower volume. Under a protective cover on the left side, there is a DC power port for charging the battery, an auxiliary input for wired connections and a microphone jack that turns the BRV-XXLinto a portable PA system. The BRV-XXL is a power bank too, you can also use the USB port to charge your mobile devices.

Audio Performance: With a speaker of this size and weight you’d assume it would be far louder than smaller, yet still more imposing, speakers like the JBL Xtreme or UE Megaboom. The BRAVEN BRV-XXL may compare its sound with the Aiwa Exos-9 or Sonos Play: 5, but the Sonos Play: 5 has no Bluetooth connectivity option.
The sound performance of the BRAVEN BRV-XXL speaker is jaw-dropping loud. It expands HD audio drivers produces massive volume without any distortion, and the sound feels very clean and crystal clear. The sound quality is excellent, with very crisp highs, well-defined midrange and booming bass that fills up the entire space with a rich and punchy low-end. The speaker also comes with built-in bass and treble controls for EQ sound customization which makes it easy to adjust the sound according to your musical preferences. It’snot as if you need to crank up the bass to the max to get a low-end rumble from this speaker. With the bass equalizer set to the medium, the XXL has plenty of grunts, while still maintaining a fairly well-balanced sound profile. The speaker’s equalizer controls are appreciable for having them on the speaker itself. It’s really convenient than having to fiddle with a mobile application.
Streaming electronic dance music, rock and pop music genres through this speaker was an extremely fun and enjoyable listening experience with punchy beats and massive sound that really penetrates through the air. You will feel like you are sitting in a live disco club while listening to the BRAVEN BRV-XXL speaker. The volume output from these speakers is loud enough and powerful at this size that you can enjoy the night party with this speaker without having to miss a beat.
The considerable size of the speaker cabinet, along with the placement of the speakers at opposite corners, give the BRV-XXL an open, natural tone with more stereo separation than most other Bluetooth speakers I’ve seen (which is to say, you can almost hear the two separate channels if you really concentrate). Overall, it’s very pleasant to listen to.
Pros & Cons:
Pros. Remarkably loud volume out – crisp highs, good midranges, stunning bass, and robust crisp treble performance. The sound does not distort at high volume levels which is plus point. The speaker has also built-in bass and treble controls for EQ sound customization. Bass-heavy music categories such as electronic dance music and rock perform remarkably well on the BRAVEN BRV-XXL. Into the box, you will find a shoulder strap for easy carrying.
Cons. The BRAVEN BRV-XXL is absurdly large to carry out along with you for a hiking or outdoor trip, though it has a built-in handle and a shoulder strap. Average midrange sound and Bluetooth connectivity range. The speaker isIPX5 rated which means it can’t survive underwater.
Conclusion: The BRAVEN BRV-XXL is a fascinating mix of sound quality, power back-up, and portability. Great frequency response from the onboard subwoofer, and for the vast common of music out there, offers a fantastic low-frequency balance to your music. It’s loud enough to fill a large room or over the splashing of a pool party. But the BRAVEN BRV-XXL speaker is neither very portable nor the best-sounding wireless speaker you can get for the money. Volume isn’t everything, of course. Audio fidelity is very particular, and what some consider acceptable quality, others do not. Without delving into my complete background in audio, I will just give you a concise and relevant story: I know the difference between good and bad. This speaker sounds absolutely more than average. The Fugoo XL doesn’t sound as good and loud but it is easier to move and much more rugged. Sonos’ Play:3 & Play:5 delivers better overall sound, but can’t be taken on the road. However, if you hunger after superior audio at your parties and have the muscle to move this speaker around, the BRAVEN BRV-XXL may be the best match you’ll find.
